Vision of Perfection
Our goal of perfection is balance.
Our vision is to rectify societal imbalances by strategically addressing economic, job market, and systemic disparities. Rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all approach, we prioritize uplifting the lowest percentages, particularly in black and brown communities. Our workshops aim to equip these communities with the tools we need to elevate our standing, fostering a more balanced and equitable society. Rooted in principles of truth, bearing good fruit, and true love, our mission is to sow seeds of lasting change.
To bring our vision of a balanced society to fruition, our commitment extends to ensuring that our target audience, predominantly black and brown communities, is guided by mentors who share their life experiences and cultural perspectives. We believe in the power of representation, allowing students to see themselves in the future landscape they aspire to navigate. By providing relatable role models, we empower individuals to visualize and pursue their goals with a clear understanding of the path ahead.
Our journey
2022
DBH initiated the Peer Mentor program, allowing program graduates to return as teachers. This provides them with hands-on teaching experience and skills in their chosen career area through an internship.
2020
DBH gained valuable insights from virtual classes and recognized the need for a scalable curriculum to enhance virtual learning. They adapted the curriculum to ensure scalability, catering to both virtual and in-person settings.
2019
Partnered with Aaron Hope of the Hope Foundation to head the Music Program with their Beats Lab program
2017
DBH was debuted at both John Avery Boys and Girls Club of Durham, NC and Durham Teen Center(now through Durham Parks and Rec). Began partnerships with Bull City Sound Studio for Audio Recording and CD Duplication.
